The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, known as VITA, helps taxpayers who make less than $60,000 per year claim valuable tax credits and file their 2021 returns.

Taxpayers may apply online any time but must make an appointment for in-person or curbside drop-off service. Appointments can also be made by calling 682-428-2939.
VITA is an IRS-supported, free income tax preparation program for low- to moderate-income individuals and families. Community volunteers, certified by the IRS, help taxpayers prepare their tax returns at no cost.

Locations offering in-person help by appointment:
- MLK Community Center, 5565 Truman Drive, Fort Worth.
- Community Enrichment Center, 6250 N.E. Loop 820, North Richland Hills,
- Southside Community Center 959 E. Rosedale St., Fort Worth.
Another option is curbside drop-off service, which allows taxpayers to drop off tax documents by appointment at several VITA locations. Taxpayers are given a cell phone number to call when they arrive. A staff member comes to their vehicle, copies tax documents and returns them to the taxpayer. Locations offering curbside drop-off service by appointment:
Opening Doors for Women In Need, 3600 Horne St., Fort Worth. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Friday: 2-7 p.m. Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Mission Center, 901 W. Broad St., Mansfield. Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 2-7 p.m.
MLK Community Center, 5565 Truman Drive, Fort Worth. Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-6 p.m.
GRACE, 837 E. Walnut St., Grapevine. Monday-Friday: 2-7 p.m.
Community Enrichment Center, 6250 N.E. Loop 820, North Richland Hills. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 2-7 p.m. Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tarrant County College South Campus, 5301 Campus Drive, Fort Worth. Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-7 p.m. Saturdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
