Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- Dallas County Commissioners approved $12 million in funding for six affordable housing projects, totaling at least 195 units, to provide low-income populations with accessible housing near their workplaces. The approval is part of the county's larger plan to allocate federal COVID-19 relief dollars to build and encourage affordable housing in order to add over 2,000 affordable units by 2026. The commissioners hope this investment will help stabilize neighborhoods and allow working families to achieve the American Dream. (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
- A recent WalletHub study ranked the most ethnically diverse cities in the United States, based on ethnicity and race, language, and birthplace. Several cities in Texas, including Plano, Houston, and Dallas, have been ranked among the country's top 50 most diverse cities. The United States remains one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world with a melting pot of cultures throughout its population. (CW33 Dallas)
- Police in Dallas arrested 27-year-old Bradley Eakin on suspicion of shooting and killing a man on Tuesday morning. The victim was found with gunshot wounds on the 2400 block of Coombs Street and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Eakin is now in custody and has been charged with murder, according to the Dallas Police Department. (Subscription: Fort Worth Star-Telegram)
