- The Dallas City Council is set to vote on the housing resource catalog on Apr. 12. The housing policy delivers guidance, identifies strategy areas, provides production infrastructure, and sets the preservation goals of the housing department. Thor Erickson, assistant housing director of the Department of Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization, said they’ll be available at libraries and recreation centers in different communities to help with program applications. (Candy's Dirt)
- Dallas ISD is partnering with Teach for America to diversify its teacher workforce. Teach for America identifies top leaders across the country and then places them in some of the most underserved, low-income schools to teach for a minimum of two years. Through the program, teachers gain an understanding of the rich cultures, histories, and assets in that neighborhood or community. TFA DFW matches teachers to neighborhoods based on need and also utilizes techniques and training to better equip its teachers before they go into a new school or community. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- A Dallas man wrongfully convicted of murder has been exonerated. Martin Santillan, 49, was arrested in 1997 on charges of robbery and the alleged murder of Damond Wittman outside a Deep Ellum nightclub. After spending 25 years behind bars, new DNA testing on a bloody Dallas Stars jersey helped clear Santillan. He was released in December. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
