Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. On Thursday, Jun. 1, Dallas Police arrested four teenagers in connection to a string of violent robberies that occurred in May in and around the Oak Lawn neighborhood. One 15-year-old was arrested for robbery and three 16-year-olds were arrested for aggravated robberies in crimes, according to Chief Eddie Garcia. Garcia described the robberies as "heinous" and said, "When you have a gun pointed to your face, right, your head, certainly it’s something that sticks with you forever." Police are currently investigating about a dozen other cases that could be connected to this case. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
  2. A recent audit in Dallas revealed that more than a quarter of materials thrown into the blue recycling bins are contaminated. To fix the problem, the City of Dallas will be conducting audits on residents’ bins and will take the bins away from residents that contaminate their recyclables. According to Danielle McClelland, manager of Dallas’ Zero Waste Division, notices will be sent to areas where the contamination is coming from to educate the residents. But McClelland said the city will remove the bin if the city finds contamination in the same bin three times after the resident was notified. (Waste 360)
  3. Despite the contentious political climate, many are ready to celebrate Pride month. This weekend, Dallas Pride is celebrating 40 years with a music festival and free parade. On Saturday, Jun. 3, the Dallas Pride Music Festival will be held at Fair Park. Learn more and buy tickets here. On Sunday, Jun. 4, the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade will be held at Fair Park.
