Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- Dallas Wings forward Satou Sabally was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the first time ever. The All-Star hopeful, who recently returned from an injury, says she's having fun and playing pain-free while netting 21.2 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. This is the second time a Wings player has received the Player of the Week award this season, with Arike Ogunbowale being recognized previously. (WFAA)
- The statewide disaster declaration on COVID-19 is set to expire in a few days as North Texas announces no pediatric hospitalizations. The region includes hospitals in 19 counties in North Texas, including The Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital, which announced only 83 adult patients being treated for COVID. These numbers mark a huge difference from the height of the pandemic when more than 4,200 patients were being treated daily. (FOX 4 News)
- A new law passed in Texas banning temporary license plates. The law will go into effect on Jul. 1, 2025, replacing all paper tags with temporary metal plates. The state allowed new cars to have temporary paper plates for years, but scammers took advantage by printing hundreds of tags and selling them. (Dallas Culture Map)
