Darriynn Brown Charged With Murder Of 4-Year Old Cash Gernon

The 18-year old suspect, already in jail on burglary and kidnapping charges, has now been charged with murder, based on a forensics study.

DALLAS, TX —Darriynn Brown, the 18-year old allegedly seen on surveillance video snatching 4-year old Cash Gernon from the crib where he slept with his twin has now been charged with the child's murder.

The charge stems from results of forensic evidence collected from the scene and the body of the tyke, who was apparently killed with an unidentified "edged" weapon. At nearly the same moment the boy's body was discovered by a jogger in the middle of a South Dallas street on May 15, the surveillance video where the Gernon twins were staying shows the same figure returning to possibly abduct the brother as well.

Those who have reviewed the tape say it appears that the intruder was frightened away before any action was taken.

No additional details of the forensics report were released, but now with physical evidence linking Brown to the boy's death, the suspect's mother's claim that her son is being framed appears to be problematic at best.

Brown's attorney has also said that the person seen lifting Cash out of his cradle is not his client, and that Brown has a history of mental problems.

In addition, a neighbor has filed charges in an assault that allegedly took place in February, when, according to the neighbor, Brown broke into his home and tried to kidnap his granddaughter.
