- Icy roads and winter weather called for a suspension in North Texas DoorDash to keep its drivers safe. The service stopped its deliveries around noon on Tuesday, and DoorDash expects to continue deliveries at 9 a.m. on Thursday. However, the timing is subject to change depending on weather conditions. - Dallas Mavericks is presenting its 8th Annual Mavs Ball, featuring appearances from Dallas Mavericks players, CEO Cynt Marshall, and Governor Mark Cuban. The event will include a cocktail reception, seated dinner, live and silent auctions, and entertainment. The ball will take place on Mar. 3. (CultureMap Dallas)
- A man who was convicted of fatally shooting a Dallas police officer in 2007 is scheduled to die by lethal injection today. Wesley Lynn Ruiz, 43, was sentenced to death in July 2008 for murdering Mark Nix after a high-speed chase through West Dallas. Ruiz hadn’t denied he fired the shot that killed Nix but argued he acted in self-defense. After deliberation, the jurors rejected Ruiz’s argument, sentencing him to death. (The Dallas Morning News)
