Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin have joined forces to create a union aiming to position themselves as potential national headquarters for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (APRA-H). APRA-H, a federal biomedical research agency overseen by the National Institutes of Health, offers opportunities for research, solutions, job creation, and technological advancements. Pegasus Park, a 25-acre, 75,000-square-foot campus located in Dallas near two international airports, biotech centers, life sciences facilities, and social hubs, is being proposed as the ideal site for the APRA-H headquarters. (D Magazine)
  2. Dallas County’s felony court judges are now approaching the issue of backups in criminal cases. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 14,000 active cases dealing with major felonies, and in April of 2022, that number spiked to 20,429 cases that hadn't been touched or resolved. Additionally, the backup has been such a severe problem in Dallas that court judges were allegedly threatened with a pay cut if they did not make progress soon. 3. In Dallas on Saturday night, Jun. 17, a call to the Dallas police department was made about a shooting at a DART bus stop around 11:30 p.m. The shooting took place at the stop on Al Lipscomb Way near Julius Schepps Freeway. There is still an ongoing investigation, and police have released that one individual was injured and taken to the hospital after the incident. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
