Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- Vicky Rios who has been a local resident of Dallas shares her concerns about the Mill Creek Tunnel project, a flood reduction tunnel, on behalf of the community. The woman stated that she believes that the project may be causing more harm than good, since she has had flood damage to her home even with the preventive measures. There could be some drainage issues going on with the surrounding area, which is causing locals like Rios to have flo water covering their streets, home floors, and curbs like on Sunday, Jun. 11. (WFAA.com)
- Around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, Jun. 12, four male individuals allegedly stole bank bags and a woman’s purse at a bank on Preston Road in North Dallas. The suspects were identified as Deverio Bell, 26, Latwon Berry, 20, Jaden Kelley, 19, and Kendarius Nelson, 21, all of whom are charged with engaging in organized crime. As of Wednesday, this is still an ongoing investigation; however, reports state that the police already confiscated a weapon and located the victim's stolen purse. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
- In Dallas-Fort Worth, the May inflation was reported to be a rate of 4.7 percent, which is now understood as the smallest increase seen since March 2021. However, there is a continuation of rise in rent and restaurant prices. In terms of restaurant inflation, it is now an average of 11.5% more than last year. The rent in Dallas is also now a 9.1 percent increase from a year ago. (The Dallas Morning News)
