- City and parade officials met on Thursday to discuss transportation and safety details for today's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. City officials and local business owners recommend taking Dallas Area Rapid Transit ahead of the traffic and road closures, which are set to begin at 10 a.m. Dallas will be providing free DART rides to and from the parade and the 5K. There will be 200 officers patrolling the area, especially in designated family-friendly areas. (WFAA.com)
- The Scott Joplin Chamber Orchestra is paying homage to Quincy Jones today (Mar. 11) at 5 p.m. at The Black Academy of Arts and Letters' Bruton Theater. The South Dallas Children's Choir will also perform a selection of ballads. Sponsored by the African American Museum, benefits will go toward the museum’s youth programs. Tickets are $15 and $25 with a limited number of $75 VIP tickets available at the museum and Ticketmaster.com. (Patron Magazine)
- Dallas police arrested a suspect on capital murder charges after a deadly shooting at Port Boulevard on Thursday. The incident happened in a commercial area around 8 p.m., where officers found 61-year-old Donald Jackson had been shot multiple times. Jackson died from his injuries, while the suspect was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
