DALLAS, TX —Local voters headed to the polls Saturday for a runoff election to determine who will be seated on the Dallas City Council . Each term is two years in length, with council members to be sworn in June 14.

Saturday's ballot is also considered by many to be a barometer of what concerns Dallasites most, and paramount on the list are public safety, crime, and what role police should play in the community.

While there are six seats to be determined by the runoff, the position of mayor is not among them. The current mayor of Dallas, Eric Johnson ,serves a four-year term and was elected in 2019. He is therefore not on the ballot.
