Seeking The Lone Star State Online? Texas.Gov Launches Redesign

DALLAS, TX - The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) is launching a major redesign of Texas.gov, the official website of the State of Texas.

The upgraded site improves the user experience with a new, mobile-friendly and easy-to-navigate interface, and enables Texans to quickly access the information or government services they need, anytime, anywhere — and on any device.

The new site offers helpful and relevant information with more than 30 pages of new content, (provided in both English and Spanish) on such diverse topics such as driver services, operating a business in Texas, moving to Texas, COVID-19 resources and more.

The relaunch also provides secure, direct access to more than 800 official government services, including vehicle registration renewal, driver license and ID renewal, vital records, professional and occupational licenses, recreational and hunting licenses and many more.

Developed by DIR in coordination with Deloitte, the new Texas.gov highlights DIR’s commitment to helping Texas government agencies transform the way they serve Texans. With comprehensive search optimization and a scalable content management system, Texas.gov provides users quick and easy access to important Texas government topics and services.

That's particularly crucial during high-profile or statewide events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters, when users need quick and reliable information from official government resources. In addition, Texas.gov meets the state’s accessibility requirements and performs well on any device or assistive technology.

In 2000, Texas launched the official state online portal as texasonline.com, which became Texas.gov in 2010. Since its inception, the site has had over 240 million total site visits and processed over 245 million financial transactions, according to state records.
