Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- Texas Radio Hall of Fame host Norm Hitzges officially announced his retirement after celebrating almost five decades on air. He made the announcement shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday during his "Norm & D Invasion" show that he co-hosts with Donovan Lewis on Sportsradio. Despite sharing a few years ago that he was battling bladder cancer, Hitzges confirmed his decision to retire has nothing to do with his physical health. (WFAA)
- Due to an agreement with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit, the city will now receive millions in surplus funding. This funding will go toward crucial transportation infrastructure projects, including the ADA-compliant ramps and side improvements at various locations throughout the city. The new agreement will give the city close to $90 million in excess sales tax revenue that became available due to an influx in federal COVID-19 relief money. (Community Impact)
- Kendall Long, a high school teen in Dallas, officially walked at her graduation after suffering a spinal cord injury last winter. After spending months in Children's Health Specialty Center Rehabilitation and Therapy Services unit, Long was determined to walk again, and as a result of her perseverance, she was able to walk across the stage at New Tech High School's graduation to receive her diploma in person. According to Long's physical therapist Deeandra Pedroza, this came as a result of her eagerness to continue getting better. (NBC-DFW)

- Juneteenth - Summer Fest at Sandaga 813 (3:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- Naminohana Sushi & Handroll Bar had a soft-open in northeast Dallas on Thursday, Jun. 16. The restaurant owner says they plan to host a grand opening event closer to the end of this month where attendees will get to experience their "high-scale" hand roll bar in person. (Community Impact)
- On Friday, Jun. 16, flyers in Terminal E at DFW International Airport were asked to leave the building after a "technical error" message was activated. Airport officials confirmed there was no emergency and that the message was a false alarm; passengers were shortly rescreened through TSA once back in the building. (Dallas News)
- The Helpful Honda Team is officially back at the Dallas Zoo this upcoming Saturday, Jun. 17 to complete more Random Acts of Helpfulness. The employees wearing blue shirts will be available all day handing out priority parking for Honda drivers, special experiences, swag bags, and so much more. (Dallas Zoo)
