- Two emperor tamarin monkeys were reported missing by the Dallas Zoo on Monday – another incident in the string of missing animal reports by the zoo. The zoo said the monkeys' habitat was "intentionally compromised," leading them to believe the tamarins were taken. Zoo officials immediately notified Dallas police, who were already investigating the matter. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
- Temperatures are expected to drop significantly in the coming days, and The Salvation Army is prepared with services for the most vulnerable population in the area. The nonprofit will open overnight warming shelters this week at the Carr P. Collins Social Service Center (5302 Harry Hines Blvd.) and Garland Corps Community Center (451 West Ave. D). (Star Local Media)
- Park South YMCA held its annual campaign kickoff on Thursday, intending to raise $77,000 before the end of the year. The funds will support after-school swimming, teen and early childhood education, and other youth programs. The event celebrated 50 years of hip hop with throwback hits and commemorated Park South's 52nd anniversary in South Dallas. (Dallasweekly)
