  1. One of the United States' top-grossing restaurants, Komodo in Miami, will officially be opening its Dallas location on Friday, Apr. 7. The bar, restaurant, and lounge is expected to make a flashy debut in Dallas' Epic development, near downtown and Deep Ellum. The menu will feature a variety of classics including dumplings, shareable appetizers, sashimi, Koren-fried chicken, crab lo mein, and so much more. (The Dallas Morning News)
  2. Oscar-Winning and Dallas-Raised Director Megan Mylan will be showing various screenings of her Award-Winning HBO Documentary "Simple as Water." The documentary is centered around how portraits of Syrian families, displaced and fractured by war, create a meditation on parental love that is both urgent and timeless. It will be playing at various locations throughout North Texas, including tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the Violet Crown Cinema in Dallas. (People Newspapers)
  3. According to the National Weather Service, additional storms and severe weather are potentially heading for North Texas today, Apr. 4. It's expected that any storms in the area today will be late in the day, but have a risk of bringing in hail, damaging winds, and even a tornado. The weather is supposed to dry out by Wednesday, before a small chance of rain on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)

  • On Saturday, Apr. 8, the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to help at their Keep Southern Dallas Beautiful event. The day will consist of a variety of community service activities at William Blair Park beginning at 9:00 a.m. in an effort to make a difference within the environment.   • The Texas Lottery reported that two people won the $25,000 cash prize following the drawing on Friday, Mar. 31. One of the tickets was sold in Port Arthur, and the other winning ticket was purchased in Austin.   • The Dallas Zoo will be hosting its "Toss the Tusk" event on Friday, Apr. 14, to play a role in elephant conservation. They will partner with The Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Wildlife Trafficking Alliance and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to help raise awareness of the harmful effects of trafficking wildlife.
