What Is Your Emergency? Dallas Wants To Hire More 911 Operators

The city has an emergency of its own. Dallas is in urgent need of more 911 operators and is looking to hire immediately.

DALLAS, TX — If you're looking to make a difference in the local community and serve your Dallas neighbors in their moment of need, you may be the next 911 tele-communicator for the city.

A 911 tele-communicator, say city officials, handles emergency and non-emergency telephone calls and requests service in various areas to ensure residents’ needs are met with efficiency.

“Serving the City of Dallas as a 911 call taker is critical to our community,” said 911 Comm & Technology Administrator Robert Uribe. “Being first responders, 911 call-takers gather critical information needed for police and fire to arrive in a timely and safe manner. Your work will help someone every day.”

If you’re interested in joining the 911 response team, the Dallas Police Department is hosting two 911 tele-communicator hiring events during the month of July.

The hiring event takes place 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 17, and is being held at Dallas Police Headquarters, 1400 Botham Jean Blvd.

During that time, those interested in becoming a 911 tele-communicator will be able to learn about the position and apply immediately. Applicants will be able to progress through most of the hiring process while in attendance at the event.
