1. Irving Moves Forward With $5.6M Huffman Building Expansion; Shift Departments From City Hall (irvingweekly.com) — Irving is moving ahead with a $5.6 million expansion of the Jack D. Huffman Community Building, shifting Human Resources and Communications out of City Hall starting in 2027. After voters rejected funding a new City Hall, the city is instead renovating existing offices, elevators, parking, and restrooms to modernize services and create more space for growing departments.

Give Blood and Give Patients Time This Holiday Season (northdallasgazette.com) — Irving residents can give blood locally this month as the Red Cross warns of critical holiday demand, especially for types O positive, O negative and B negative. A fixed donation center in Irving is open through Dec. 31, with December donors receiving thank-you gifts and options to schedule appointments or volunteer online.

Michael Huff inducted into the NFF College Football Hall of Fame - University of Texas Athletics (texaslonghorns.com) — An Irving native, Michael Huff, has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, adding another major honor to a career that began at Nimitz High School. Already in the Irving ISD Athletic Hall of Fame with his jersey retired locally, Huff’s achievements now span from hometown hero to national football legend.

The listing tracks 156 new patents connected to the Dallas–Fort Worth area, underscoring how firms in Irving and nearby cities are helping drive the region’s innovation economy.
   

5. US Customs in Louisville seizes over $18 million in counterfeit jewelry (whas11.com) — Irving residents were indirectly involved in a major counterfeit jewelry bust when U.S. Customs officers in Louisville intercepted a shipment addressed to a local residence containing fake luxury watches and designer hats. The seizure was part of three intercepted packages worth an estimated $18.6 million, prompting federal officials to warn holiday shoppers to avoid suspiciously cheap, potentially dangerous knockoffs.
