Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:
- Library Palooza will be at Brandeis High School on Feb. 25, featuring award-winning authors offering autographs, and panel discussions. Some featured authors at the event will be: Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Amalie Howard, Ayana Gray, Julie C. Dao, Nicola Yoon, Ibi Zoboi and more. For more details on this free community event, check out KSAT San Antonio.
- The IVV Olympiad is one of the premier international walking festivals. San Antonio's weather and location make it a prime area for runners from different countries to enjoy the "sights and sounds" of the city. The 5k/10k walk on Feb. 19 will be at King William Park. "The community walk is not a race. It is meant to be enjoyed. In fact, Mike Schencke enjoys talking while walking, as long as it’s not about politics." WOAI has more on how to register.
- Two women are taking the initiative to bring their attacker to justice. The two friends got a flat tire on Feb. 12 along Highway 90 and attempted to call friends for help. Fifteen minutes later, the suspect pretended to try and help the women, but began hitting Garcia in the head. He also attempted to reach for Zamora when Garcia managed to push the suspect away. "Garcia and Zamora are going door-knocking and trying to help SAPD." KSAT San Antonio has more on this story.
- Gonzales High School was evacuated Wednesday afternoon around 12:15 p.m. after a teacher reportedly overheard "students discussing a possible bomb threat. 10 different agencies responded and cleared the school." Parents were asked to bring their IDs to pick up their students from the Apache field. Two students were detained and will be interviewed by police.
