1. San Antonio commissaries to start offering delivery services. Here's what we know. (expressnews.com) — Military families in San Antonio will soon be able to get groceries delivered from commissaries at Fort Sam Houston, Lackland and Randolph, though fees will run $17.75 to $31.25 per order. Starting by Jan. 11, eligible shoppers within 20 miles can order online for doorstep delivery, trading higher delivery costs for commissary discounts that average nearly 24% below civilian stores.
   

2. San Antonio vying to attract agency in charge of military healthcare (sacurrent.com) — San Antonio leaders are competing to bring the Defense Health Agency headquarters here, a move that could add up to 3,300 jobs and repurpose space at Fort Sam Houston. City and county officials have each committed $10 million, plus sought state grants, to modernize a facility and entice the agency, even as other military commands and cybersecurity expansions have stalled or left the area.
   

3. More than 30,000 attend San Antonio Zoo's Congo Falls grand opening weekend (sacurrent.com) — San Antonio Zoo just drew more than 30,000 visitors for the grand opening of its new Congo Falls gorilla exhibit, the zoo’s first gorillas in over 30 years. The multi-habitat area features seven western lowland gorillas and a towering new structure, with members getting early-morning access through Dec. 31 and zoo leaders already eyeing future elephant plans.
   

4. U.S. Marshals searching for San Antonio fugitive Rudy Gomez (foxsanantonio.com) — U.S. Marshals are asking San Antonio residents to help locate 33-year-old Rudy Gomez, who they say violated federal supervised release and is suspected in a $20,000 retail theft ring targeting Dick’s Sporting Goods across the San Antonio area. Authorities say he frequents the city’s Northeast Side and urge anyone with information to call the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at 210-657-8500.
   

5. TxDOT denies City of San Antonio request to keep rainbow crosswalks after Abbott's order for removal (ksat.com) — San Antonio’s rainbow crosswalks in the Pride Cultural Heritage District must be removed after TxDOT rejected the city’s request to keep them under Gov. Abbott’s new directive. City officials say the colorful crossings improved safety but will comply, warning that noncompliance could threaten state and federal road funding, and plan to remove and replace them by January 15, 2026.
