Here are the top stories today in San Antonio:
- Cancer patients with Sunshine Kids’ Foundation were able to enjoy a day filled with fun at SeaWorld. The 46 young patients started off with visiting the beluga whales, and later enjoyed other shows and rides at the theme park. The organization is a non-profit that provides a break for youth that are receiving cancer treatments, and gives them something to look forward to, at no cost to them. "Sunshine Kids just celebrated their 40th year anniversary and SeaWorld San Antonio has been hosting them for 32 years now." (FOX 29)
- Local business, San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS) was awarded a $90 million contract to make athletic shoes for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). The contract is for SAS to create and deliver a shoe that withstands and is designed for the military's basic training rigor, at no cost to the trainees. Nancy Richardson, CEO of San Antonio Shoemakers said, "At SAS, we know it's all about the fit - that's why we spent four years perfecting the shoe, ensuring only the highest quality and comfort for our service members."(WOAI)
- North East ISD signed a historic agreement with NASA to open a space academy. This agreement " will benefit students in the new Space and Engineering Technologies Academy (SETA)." During this time, NASA will have an onsite employee who will work with Krueger Middle School and Roosevelt High School, to include NASA curriculum and opportunities. Courses will be centered around, "aerospace engineering, aviation technology, computer science, and manufacturing." (KSAT San Antonio)

- 2023-2023 school year dates: "The first day of school for students varies by district and the upcoming school year has a three-week difference between the earliest and latest start dates." (KSAT San Antonio)
