Busy San Antonio road closing for days — what to know (mysanantonio.com) — Hildebrand Avenue between Howard and McCullough in San Antonio is closed in both directions from Monday, December 15, through Friday, December 19, for major SAWS sewer line upgrades. Drivers will be detoured to West Olmos Drive, and nearby commuters are urged to plan extra time while crews install new gravity sewer mains to reduce overflows citywide.

Suspect hospitalized after high-speed carjacking chase from San Antonio to Universal City (news4sanantonio.com) — A violent carjacking that began on San Antonio’s East Side led to a high-speed chase into Universal City and ended with the suspect crashing and being hospitalized. Police sources say the car was taken near WW White and Houston Street with a woman still inside, and witnesses described the suspect speeding and losing control before officers tackled him after the wreck.

3. $7 million commitment to UT San Antonio will aid health care, engineering and athletics (star-telegram.com) — A major $7 million gift is headed to the University of Texas at San Antonio and UT Health San Antonio, boosting local health care research, engineering education, and athletics. The Whitacres’ donation honors former UT Health president Dr. William Henrich, supports metabolic health work, expands engineering student success programs, and increases scholarships and services for Roadrunner student-athletes across San Antonio.
