  1. H-E-B has plans to remove the plexiglass partitions it installed during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. "H-E-B said its decision aligns with the federal government ending the COVID-19 emergency declaration and guidance on May 11." During the height of the pandemic, the grocery store chain was a pioneer in following recommended social distancing practices as well as limiting purchase quantities to not disrupt the supply chain issues. 2. The 'Ramon Najera Act' (House Bill 4759) will come in full effect in September. "It will allow Animal Care Services to launch an investigation on its own, without the need for an affidavit or sworn statement, and will protect the identity and information of those who report dangerous dogs." This bill comes into place after 81-year-old veteran Ramon Najera died after a brutal dog attack in February. Learn more at San Antonio Report.
  3. Northeast Lakeview College and North East ISD were two of five schools that received a total of $1.2 million in grants for technical education by the Texas Workforce Commission. "The grants will enable schools to purchase and install equipment that supports career and technical education training programs that help students learn about high-demand occupations." Greg Abbott noted that he's thankful for this opportunity for students to be able to get a head start in careers that are in high demand. Learn more details at Community Impact Newspaper.
