Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. A total between ten to fifteen bus routes are being eliminated due to a bus driver shortage. This dilemma poses concerns to parents like Andrew McBride, whose son will have to walk to school for his 1st grade year. The area that McBride lives is bustling with traffic and he says that there's accidents often. "Northside ISD says they have been shorthanded by 60 to 90 bus drivers and have had to make it work." Sometimes bus drivers make two trips to get multiple routes in. To learn more details, visit FOX 29.
  2. A man was found not guilty of a Trinity cheerleader's murder. Mark Howerton was accused of killing Cayley Mandadi in 2017. The two had supposedly been involved in an abusive relationship prior to her death. A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner in Kyle, TX "conducted an exam where multiple bruises were found on Cayley’s face, arms, and legs. Cayley never regained consciousness and died two days later." Howerton has a sentencing hearing in two weeks where he could face a penalty of 2 to 20 years. More details at FOX 29.
  3. San Antonio's mental health emergencies have been following a national trend, especially in children and adolescents. "UT Health San Antonio is part of state-funded, Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine (TCHATT), a program that partners with local school districts in Bexar County and 35 surrounding counties. Through TCHATT, students are eligible for free therapy services, medication treatment and case management." The goal of this program is for children to be seen promptly, address issues, and form plans of action for that student's improvement. UT Health San Antonio has the full report.
