Here are the top stories in San Antonio today:

  1. Since the spike in home values last year, it is expected that many homeowners will protest their property taxes. There are three ways San Antonians can pursue their protests before the May 15 deadline: Do it online by logging onto bcad.org and following the prompts, "mail the protest to the Bexar Appraisal District at P.O Box 830248, San Antonio, TX 78283", or dropping in a box located at 411 North Frio St. Residents should practice patience, make extra copies of printed documents, and expect longer than usual wait times for phone calls. The San Antonio Current has more information.
  2. A Warren High School teacher was "accused of having improper relationship with 17-year-old student." Stephanie Woods is a coach and biology teacher at the school and has been arrested and placed on administrative leave. Parents were notified of this incident and states they do not believe any other students were involved. Woods was charged with having an improper relationship with a student as an educator, with a $50,000 bond set. Investigators found evidence that the student's belongings were at Woods' home, where she allegedly spent several nights. 550 KTSA has the full story.
  3. San Antonio Police arrested 21-year-old Elijah Ramos, who was on an active capital murder warrant list. Ramos was wanted for the murder of a 14-year-old victim that took place in December 2020. "The suspect was arrested in result of a covert operation that took place Friday, where 4 total suspects with felony warrants were apprehended, which resulted in 7 total felony warrants being booked."
