Burn Victim To Skydive 1 Year Later; Dropping ‘The Rahm’ On Japan
Your 5-minute read to start the day: Hurricane Ida the strongest to hit Louisiana; UFO documentary; ICE ban; remembering Ed Asner.

Good morning! It’s Monday, Aug. 30 and here are a few things to know as the work week begins:
- Hurricane Ida continues to pummel Louisiana and other southern states bordering the Gulf of Mexico.
- A woman who suffered severe burns less than a year ago has recovered to the point of planning a skydiving trip to mark the one-year “burnversary.”
- A brush fire that took up thousands of acres in California caused some structural damage, too.
- The latest on Afghanistan.

Amber Fuller was taking her dogs out for a walk on Sept. 2, 2020, when an unprovoked man attacked her and set her on fire. She suffered severe burns: second- and third-degree burns on her back, abdomen and right arm.

Still, President Joe Biden rewarded his political pal by naming Emanuel the next U.S. ambassador to Japan.
