DIY Winter Craft: Hand Warmers
You'll be grateful for these hand warmers when the weather is freezing! If you can sew a straight line, you can DIY these.

This project involves some sewing, but it's not difficult! If you can sew a straight line, you can sew these hand warmers. They make great gifts for friends with winter birthdays, too. Stick them in your coat pockets to warm up your hands, or just hold them and feel the comforting heat.

#1. Using the fabric scissors, cut two 4-inch squares of flannel for each hand warmer that you want to make.

#2. Place the fabric with right sides facing. Pin the squares of fabric together using sewing pins, if you'd like.

#3. Using a sewing machine or needle and thread, sew around three sides of the square, then sew around half of the fourth side, leaving a small opening.
#4. Turn the square right side out, pushing the corners out. (If you can't do this with your fingers, you can use a pencil.)

#5. Fill the square with uncooked rice, filling it as far to the top as possible.
#6. Fold the seam to the inside of the opening you left in step 3, then finger press or pin it to secure it.
#7. Sew the small gap shut.
#8. To use the hand warmers, heat them in the microwave for about 30 seconds.
