Ex-DEA Agent From Orange County Charged In Capitol Riot
Mark Ibrahim is accused of claiming to be on Capitol grounds on Jan. 6 to help the FBI.

WASHINGTON — A former Drug Enforcement Administration agent has been charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Mark Ibrahim of Orange County, California, faces four charges, WUSA and others have reported, citing the Department of Justice.
Prosecutors said Ibrahim entered restricted grounds around the Capitol building and then falsely claimed he was there to help the FBI, according to a report from The Washington Post. Ibrahim was shown in several photos inside the collapsed barricades, near the Senate steps, according to The Post.
Ibrahim has been charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; carrying a firearm on those grounds; stepping/climbing on/ removing or in any way injuring property on Capitol grounds while carrying a firearm and falsely stating that he never displayed his badge or firearm, WUSA reported.

An attorney for Ibrahim denied his client's involvement in a statement released back in March, according to The Post.
“Mr. Ibrahim was not part of, affiliated with nor participatory in any trespass or violent acts and vehemently denounces them," the statement read. "Those participants comprised only a fraction of the total attendees.”

Ibrahim had intended to resign from his special agent role before Jan. 6, according to The Post, but was suspended and fired after his alleged involvement.
