Holiday Gift Wrapping Hacks: Folding Neat Angles
Work around an odd-shaped gift by folding the wrapping paper at angles for a neat, professional finish.

If you're wrapping a gift that's huge on top and small on the bottom -- say, a fishing net or maybe a ping-pong paddle -- then you can fold the wrapping paper at angles to make the wrapping look neater. The technique will vary depending on the shape of your gift, so here we've just provided some general how-to tips to get you started.

1. Cut two pieces of wrapping paper that are slightly larger than the largest section of your gift. Allowing about a 2-inch border all around should do the trick. Depending on the size of your gift, the paper will probably be a square or a rectangle. Set one piece of wrapping paper aside.
Tip: If you find that your gift is heavy and feels like it might rip through the paper, you can double (or triple!) the amount of wrapping paper sheets you use to support the weight of the gift.

2. Place the wrapping paper on the table with the wrong side facing. Place your gift on top of the paper, centering it as best you can.
3. Begin folding the wrapping paper over so that it covers the gift, but instead of folding in long straight lines like you normally would, fold at angles. To hold the wrapping paper in place, try to apply tape to the wrapping paper instead of the gift itself.
As you're folding, try to make the angles as neat as possible. For example, if you are wrapping a ping-pong paddle, try to bring the wrapping to a point at the bottom of the handle. Don't worry too much about making these angles super neat, because this side will be hidden later!
4. Once you've secured the paper around the entire object, place the second sheet of wrapping paper on the table with the wrong side facing.
5. Place the half-wrapped gift on top of the paper with the folded angle side down on top of the wrapping paper.

6. Using double-sided tape, fold each edge of the wrapping paper over twice, then secure with tape to attach it to the gift. For this step, you're trying to create a square or rectangle shape using the paper. Instead of folding at an angle, try to fold in straight lines.
