McCarthy Pulls Jan. 6 Committee Appointments After Pelosi Veto
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy pulled all five from the committee after Pelosi vetoed the Jim Jordan and Jim Banks appointments.

WASHINGTON — In what she called an "unprecedented" move, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has vetoed two of the five appointments to the House select committee investigating the Capitol Riot made by Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, CNN and others reported Wednesday.
McCarthy responded by pulling all five appointments, according to an updated CNN report.
"Unless Speaker Pelosi reverses course and seats all five Republican nominees, Republicans will not be party to their sham process and will instead pursue our own investigation of the facts," McCarthy said, according to CNN.

Pelosi rejected McCarthy's appointments of Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, and Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana, both of whom objected to the certification of the 2020 presidential election, CNN reported Wednesday, citing a statement from the House speaker. Troy Nehls of Texas, another of McCarthy's appointments who objected to the election certification, was approved by Pelosi.
Reps. Rodney Davis of Illinois, and Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota, McCarthy's two other picks, were also approved by Pelosi.

"With respect for the integrity of the investigation, with an insistence on the truth and with concern about statements made and actions taken by these Members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the Select Committee," Pelosi said in a statement, according to CNN.
"The unprecedented nature of January 6th demands this unprecedented decision," Pelosi added.
Pelosi already named her eight appointments to the committee, which included Republican Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
