Meet our newest Patch Pet of the Week: Spanky!

Spanky is a 13 year old Havanese/Shitszu mix coming to us from Sparta, New Jersey. Known affectionately as Spanky Doodle by his family, he is both lovable and stubborn. He enjoys meeting new people, but in his older age, he has grown to love his alone time as well.

First day home

Spanky had an exciting first day home – he went for a ride on his brother's skateboard! I'm sure that's a homecoming he thoroughly enjoyed.

Favorite treat

This pup definitely has an unusual palette. While most dogs prefer bacon flavored treats, Spanky opts for green beans. How adorable!

Weirdest thing he ever ate

Spanky managed to get his paws on a Lincoln Log and ate the whole thing! But that's not even the craziest thing he ever ate – he also ate a BIC razor, and after giving his family quite the scare, he turned out to be okay!

Likes

A few of Spanky's favorite things are cheerios with bananas, steak and chicken! We can't say we disagree with him.

Dislikes

While some dogs love frolicking on the beach, Spanky despises it! He also does not like bath time, as shown in the photo below. Even when he's mad, he still looks adorable.

Funniest habit

He will only go up and down the stairs at night, he actually refuses to do it during the day. No one is exactly sure why he does this, but we're sure there's some reasonable doggy logic behind this choice.

Favorite toy

Spanky loves his little lamby, it's his favorite cuddle partner!

"He always makes us laugh"

Even though Spanky has become a little grumpy in his older age, he is such an important part of his family. He always finds a way to make everyone laugh, and he is so loved!
