ACROSS AMERICA — Troops marching in a full honors procession dressed in World War 1-era uniforms participated in a procession to mark the 100th anniversary of the World War 1 Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during Veterans Day in Arlington, Virginia.

For the first time in 100 years, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier plaza was open to the public. Members of the public placed flowers at the tomb to mark the event as a somber tribute to those who were lost in combat — and never recovered.

A military flyover, military processions and flowers laid near the tomb were all part of this year's Veterans Day.
