WASHINGTON, DC — President Joe Biden's new puppy, Commander, was taken out in public for the first time after he was introduced last week in a Twitter post that read, "Meet the Newest Biden."
On Tuesday, Biden and first lady Jill Biden took Commander out for a walk along Rehoboth Beach in Delaware, as photographers from the White House press corps documented the event.
The Bidens also played catch with the dog while on the beach. Commander was a birthday gift from the president's brother, James Biden, and sister-in-law Sara Biden.

The Bidens moved into the White House in January with two dogs, Champ and Major. Champ died in June and Major had to be removed from the White House after he bit and caused a minor injury to a Secret Service official in March. Later, Major "nipped someone while on a walk" according to The Associated Press.
The following are several photos as the Bidens walk their new dog on the beach.
