Louisiana Police Shooting: Suspect In Custody
Police arrest man after a standoff in which officials said he shot at least two law enforcement officers.
AVOYELLES PARISH, LA – Three police officers were injured during a standoff with a man who fled while being served a warrant and barricaded himself in a house in Morse before opening fire. Police arrested the suspect , identified as 35-year-old Brandon Arthur Carpenter.
Police said in a statement that during negotiations, Carpenter began firing at officers. A Louisiana State trooper and a Marksville police officer were shot and a Simmesport police officer was injured, police said. It is not known if his injuries were from the gunshot or flying debris. Carpenter, of Elizabeth, is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder. He was booked into the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center, according to local CBS affiliate WAFB9.

"After a while, we got a suspect in custody, and he's being processed right now at the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center. Our detectives are currently working on the investigation, and as more information becomes available, we'll be releasing that," Scott Moreau, state spokesperson for Troop E, told the CBS station.
