USDA Documents More Slime, Mold At Boar’s Head

Newly released documents show sanitation issues are more widespread than previously thought at processing plants operated by Boar’s Head, the company at the center if a deadly outbreak of listeria poisoning that killed 10 people last year and hospitalized dozens of others.

The outbreak was traced to a single Boar’s Head plant in Jarratt, Virginia, that was shut down, but government inspectors also documented unsanitary conditions at several other Boar’s Head deli meats plants.

Tesla Recalls 260,000 Vehicles As Probes Continue

Tesla is recalling approximately 239,000 of its electric vehicles due to a potential failure of the rearview cameras, which increases the risk of crashes.

“A rearview camera that does not display an image reduces the driver’s rearview, increasing the risk of a crash,” Tesla said in a letter to regulators.

The issue was the result of a sequence of specific software and hardware configurations, coupled with colder temperatures, the automaker said. The company has pushed a software update that changes the vehicle’s power-up sequence to prevent the shorting failure.

The automaker plans to identify specific vehicles with a circuit board issue and will replace the car’s computer if necessary. Tesla said it is unaware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to the defect. The company has had 887 warranty claims and 68 field reports related to the recall.

Recalled vehicles include certain 2024-2025 Model 3, Model S, 2023-2025 Model X, and 2023-2025 Model Y vehicles.

The recall comes just days after the NHTSA announced an investigation into 2.6 million Tesla vehicles in the United States amid reports of crashes related to a feature that allows drivers to remotely move their cars.

That probe follows one of 2.4 million Tesla vehicles announced last fall after a car using the self-driving mode was involved in a fatal accident.
