AMERICA — Did you ever want to unburden yourself of years of accumulation of stuff packed in boxes you never open and move to a tiny house?

The tiny home trend has become a nationwide phenomenon in recent years. Generally, these are homes with somewhere between 400 and 750 square feet that appeal to people who want to reduce their housing footprint or live a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle.

These small homes may be a great place for a weekend getaway, or as a year-round home for a buyer who finds decades-high prices and mortgage rates are pushing the dream of single-family home ownership increasingly out of reach. The ongoing cost of homeownership — utilities, property taxes and so forth — is lower in these homes, too.

Vaulted ceilings make the house look bigger. It has two bedrooms, something that’s not always available in a tiny home. There’s only one bathroom, and it has a shower-tub combination.
