Walmart To Open Several New Stores By September 2025: Here's Where

BENTONVILLE, AR — Walmart plans to help more customers across the country "save money [and] live better" by opening five new stores and a new Sam's Club location by the end of September, with even more new stores planned for the remainder of 2025.

A Walmart spokesperson confirmed Wednesday about 10 new stores are scheduled to open by the end of the year.

While the spokesperson declined to provide a full list of the planned locations, he was able to confirm five of the locations are set to open by September.

Where, When Will the New Stores Open?

According to the spokesperson, Walmart plans to open the following store locations over the next few months in Alabama, California, Utah and Florida:

  • Neighborhood Market – 8600 Highway 69, Tuscaloosa, Ala.
  • Walmart Supercenter (conversion grand opening) – 600 Showers Drive, Mountain View, Calif.
  • Walmart Supercenter – 9399 North Spring Run Parkway, Eagle Mountain, Utah
  • Neighborhood Market – 6275 US-90, Milton, Fla.
  • Neighborhood Market – 4239 Berryhill Road, Pace, Fla.

The spokesperson noted the Tuscaloosa, Ala., store is scheduled to open in mid-June, while the Mountain View, Calif., store is planned to open in July.

The company then plans to open the Utah and Milton, Fla., stores in August and the Pace, Fla., store in September, according to the spokesperson.

Additionally, a new Sam's Club location is set to open in Tempe, Ariz., in early August, the spokesperson said.

Walmart Continues Expansion

In January 2024, Walmart CEO John Furner announced in a news release plans to build or convert more than 150 stores within five years, as well as remodel a number of existing stores.

"These efforts represent millions of dollars in capital investment of labor, supplies and tax revenue, which benefit their respective communities," Furner said in a news release, "and they'll help us reach and serve even more customers."

The company also announced plans to remodel 650 stores across 47 states and Puerto Rico, "creating tens of thousands of jobs supporting these projects."

In April, Walmart announced plans to remodel 34 stores in Florida in 2025. The remodeled stores will boast a new look, including "big, bold signage" and improved in-store displays, Walmart said.

There will also be larger departments with a better selection of items, expanded online pickup and delivery and reimagined pharmacy areas with wider aisles, a new private screening room and privacy checkout areas.

The following Florida store locations are scheduled to be remodeled this year, according to Walmart:

Meanwhile, a Walmart store in East Windsor, N.J., will soon be converted into a superstore, the company announced in April.

Walmart also announced last month eight Maryland stores are set to be renovated as part of the company's plans to update hundreds of stores nationwide.
