We Love You, Dad: 13 Awesome Fathers & Why They Rock
Find out if a father in your town got a special shoutout on Patch!
Father's Day has come and gone, but one thing is for sure: Patch readers have some awesome dads! This year, Patch partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on rad dads far and wide.
Folks from all over the country submitted shoutouts, and while we loved them all, we narrowed it down to 13 of our favorites. Although some of these fathers have passed away, their legacies live on through the families who celebrate them.
Keep reading to meet some incredible dads, past and present.
1. Huntsville, AL: Paul Hillard
This former foster dad adopted eight children. According to one of his kids, "He texts the corniest dad jokes to me every day to put a smile on my face."
2. Phoenix, AZ: Raymond
Although this "one of a kind" dad and grandpa sadly passed away, his legacy lives on through his adoring family. They remember him as "kind, respectful, cheerful and funny." This Father's Day would've been Raymond's 69th birthday.
3. Portland, ME: Karlton Kinzer
While this military veteran is "perceived as a tough person," his daughter says he's "a gigantic teddy bear" at home. Karlton Kinzer "would do anything for kids" and "deserves so much credit" for all he does.
4. Grand Rapids, MI: InSung Oaks Lee
InSung Oaks Lee "embodies kindness and compassion for others" and has overcome many obstacles throughout his life. In addition to being a devoted family man, he proudly served in the military and has held positions within his church and local football team.
5. Overland Park, KS: Floyd Mosher
Floyd, who passed away in 2022, "was the best dad ever," according to his loved ones. "He was my biggest cheerleader for 46 years," recalls his daughter. "He took me everywhere and even smuggled me out of a situation a time or two."
6. Raleigh, NC: Mike
This "good soul" has taken on the role of dad to three girls "like a champion." According to his partner, he's a friend and confidant who's always there to lend a listening ear and offer "sage advice."
7. Nashua, NH: Carl Sheehan
This "amazing father and grandfather" has always put family first. According to Carl Sheehan's daughter, he "has a forgiving heart of gold" and "has the most amazing bond" with his grandkids.
8. Shreveport, LA: Curtis C. Lassiter
Curtis C. Lassiter was a beloved family man, an ordained minister, a community advocate and an entrepreneur. As one of his children put it, "God truly broke the mold when he made him."
9. Lacey, NJ: Todd Augustine
Todd Augustine "works to jobs to provide for his family volunteers for Lanoka Harbor EMS," but he "still always has time for his family." According to his kids, "He is just a good person inside and out."
10. Doylestown, PA: Vince
This father of four "provides for his four children while also taking care of his elderly mother." As Vince's daughter puts it, "My dad does not live his life looking for rewards and applause; rather, he generates his happiness from the happiness of others."
11. Cedar Park-Leander, TX: Wizard Herrera
According to Wizard Herrera's wife, this father of seven has "a rare, unique, and beautiful" for his children. As she puts it, "He truly is the best father I've ever known and is so deserving to be told that every day."
12. Fredericksburg, VA: Tom Hunt
Tom Hunt is "funny, witty and charming," according to his kids. The beloved stepdad, uncle and dad is "the biggest cheerleader" for everyone in his family and "know happiness is the priority."
13. Cartersville, GA: Austin Godfrey
Although Austin has sadly passed away, this "honest family man" is remembered by his daughter as "the best daddy anyone could have ever asked for."
