You Can Now Buy $5 Bottles Of Wine From Target

Tar-jay's new line of vino just made it an even more tempting place to shop.

If you already have a wandering-eye problem while shopping at Target (who hasn't gone in for shampoo and left with a new lamp?), your errands just got even more dangerous. On Sept. 3 the retailer launched California Roots, a collection of $5 wines from the West Coast.

The white wine selection includes Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Moscato, while red wine lovers can stock up on the label's Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Blend. All of them are available at 1,100 stores around the country and are "just the right blend of incredible quality and amazing value," according to the company's senior vice president of Food and Beverage, Jeff Burt.

Target isn't the first chain to debut an affordable in-house wine, nor is California Roots the cheapest private label — Trader Joe's has long been famous for its $2 wine (or what loyal customers affectionately refer to as "two-buck chuck"). Still, an entire bottle of wine costing roughly the same as that shampoo from aisle 5? That's definitely something we can get on board with.
