Meet A Future Leader In Salt Lake City: Diya Rao

The future of Salt Lake City is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Diya Rao, who are making a positive impact in and around Salt Lake City.

Diya is a 2021 West High School graduate and current undergraduate student at the University of Utah pursuing a double major in Psychology and Health, Society and Policy. She is also a Lead Facilitator, Co-Facilitator, and Research Assistant at WeBeWell. Her work focuses on fostering kindness and positivity across diverse communities, while her engagement with students of various age groups has deepened her understanding of well-being practices.

During her high school years, Diya demonstrated exceptional leadership and service. She was selected as a Bank of America Student Leader and gained valuable workforce and civic engagement skills through an internship at Fourth Street Clinic in partnership with the Salt Lake County mayor’s office.

Outside of school, Diya has been an active volunteer who gives back to the community. Her work as a piano teacher and event ambassador for the Mundi Project earned her the Lt. Governor’s Volunteer Recognition Certificate in 2020. She was a teen leader and youth volunteer at the Salt Lake City Public Library and held an officer role in the National Honor Society. She was also an active participant in Utah HOSA since her sophomore year, showcasing her commitment to health sciences and leadership development.

Diya’s multifaceted achievements and contributions to her community make her a standout leader with a bright future ahead.
