Michelle understands the challenges of caregiving because she cared for her husband, who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer, in 2018. After several hospital stays, he was sent home on hospice where Michelle cared for him for several months.
Michelle credits compassionate and respectful visiting nurses and hospice home health aides for improving her husband’s quality of life. When the caregivers, whom she called “angels,” were in the home, Michelle said they allowed her to “go back to being a wife and not a caregiver.”

Similarly, FCP Live-In’s dedicated live-in caregivers offer compassionate care and treats older adults with dignity and respect. Live-In caregivers help clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and bathroom assistance. Live-in caregivers also perform light housekeeping activities, such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, preparing nutritious meals and special diets, and can assist with transportation/errands. Just as necessary is the companionship live-in caregivers provide by socializing with the clients, keeping them engaged in purposeful conversation, and helping them stay active in their community.
FCP Live-In also offers end-of-life care, hospice care, and palliative care for people with serious illnesses. Providing these services allows families to be with their loved ones at home instead of in a nursing home or other senior living residence with strangers.
Although Michelle’s husband died 22 months after his diagnosis, Michelle said she is still in touch with his social worker and one of his caregivers because “they became like family to me and my children.”
Michelle’s experience with her husband’s caregivers inspired her to become a care coordinator with FCP Live-In. Michelle says she wants to help give other families the same comfort and peace of mind that her husbands caregivers gave her.
Michelle lives in Brownsville, VT, on breathtaking Mount Ascutney. She enjoys skiing, biking, and walking her puppies.
