Burlington Proposes to Stop Maintaining Some Roads (sevendaysvt.com) — Burlington officials are weighing a proposal that could end city plowing and maintenance on 54 private or “unaccepted” streets, many in the New North End, unless residents pay or upgrade roads to city standards. After pushback from councilors and surprised homeowners, Public Works has softened its October 2026 deadline and plans community meetings, but the future of these streets—and their property values—remains uncertain.
   

2. Operation Fire Cuffs brings Christmas joy to patients at UVM Children's Hospital (wcax.com) — Santa and the Burlington Fire Department helped deliver $30,000 in toys and gift cards to kids spending Christmas at UVM Children’s Hospital, brightening a tough holiday stay in Burlington. Operation Fire Cuffs, now in its 15th year, brought emergency crews, mascots, and families together for stories, music, and much-needed cheer for young patients.
   

3. Burlington's Dad Guild provides space for local fathers to socialize, connect (mynbc5.com) — Burlington’s Dad Guild is giving local fathers a welcoming space to connect, share challenges, and build confidence as parents, often meeting at the Soda Plant. The nonprofit now runs six to eight weekly events, from playgroups to hairstyling workshops, and is expanding beyond Chittenden County while keeping Burlington dads at the heart of its mission.
   

4. Final Feed a Family Food Drive of 2025! (mychamplainvalley.com) — Shoppers at Burlington’s City Market helped ABC22/FOX44’s final 2025 Feed a Family drive raise more than $500 and hundreds of pounds of food for the Vermont Foodbank. Donors bought $10 pre-packed bags or gave individual items like canned goods and baby products, supporting more than 200 partner pantries across the state during a tough holiday season.
   

5. Seven players with local ties taken in MLS SuperDraft (wcax.com) — Burlington soccer fans have plenty to cheer about after two UVM Catamount standouts, goalkeeper Niklas Herceg and forward Maxi Kissel, were selected in the MLS SuperDraft. Several other players with Vermont Green or regional ties also heard their names called, underscoring how Burlington’s college and summer teams are feeding talent into the professional ranks.
