Friday, June 24: Fire Up

Campfire Fridays – Summer : Come along for a night of campfire, s’mores, animals and more in a monthly program this summer where you’ll explore a different topic and park area each Friday. Saturday, June 25: Jazzy Tunes

Jazz Masters with John Eaton: Jazz pianist, musicologist and humorist John Eaton focuses on Cole Porter in this popular continuing education program with hilarious commentary and elegant renditions of jazz standards, both popular and obscure.   • Seldom Scene: Widely acclaimed as “America’s greatest bluegrass band,” Seldom Scene will delight listeners. From 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Arrowbrook Centre Park. Free. For information, call 703-324-7469.
  • Mount Vernon Nights: The U. S. Army Blues began as the Army Dance Band to entertain soldiers and civilians in the battle zone during World War II. Life in the Leaf Litter : Join a park naturalist for a hike and exploration of the forest floor to uncover the diversity of soil organisms and the crucial role that invertebrates play in helping forests stay healthy.
