Fire Displaces Family, Service Dog in Annandale

A fire did more than $100,000 damage to an Annandale home Monday afternoon and displaced a family of five.

ANNANDALE, VA -- A fire in Annandale Monday afternoon displaced a family and their service dog, according to to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters responded to the house fire Monday at approximately 4:11 p.m., in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located in the 4900 Casimir Street.

When they arrived, firefighters found smoke coming from the house, according to the fire department. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported, the fire department said.

The home had no working smoke alarms, according to the fire department. Three occupants were home at the time of the fire. Two adults, three children, and a service dog have been displaced. Red Cross assistance is being provided. Damage is estimated at approximately $125,000, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
