Possible Home Invasion Reported Tuesday Night in Springfield: Police

Two men with guns rang a resident's doorbell late Tuesday night and allegedly forced their way inside, according to police.

SPRINGFIELD, VA -- Fairfax County Police say two men with guns rang the doorbell of a Springfield home late Tuesday night and allegedly forced their way in when the resident answered the door.

The incident took place in the 5300 block of Atlee Place in Springfield (see map below), Tuesday night around 11 p.m., according to police.

Police say the resident, a 28-year-old man, answered the door, and the two suspects allegedly forced their way inside, displaying handguns and demanding money. The victim called out to another resident inside the home and one suspect assaulted him, then both suspects fled without taking anything, according to police.

Police said the two suspects were described as black men, with one being about 20 years old and the other in his late 20s to early 30s. One suspect was wearing a black sweatshirt and the other was wearing a red sweatshirt, police said. The victim declined medical attention.
