$21.1M From NVTA To Fund Crystal City-National Airport Connection
Northern Virginia Transportation Authority awarded Arlington County a total of $37.1 million for two multimodal improvement projects.
ARLINGTON, VA — Arlington County received more than $18.3 million from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority to help fund two multimodal improvement projects.
On Thursday, NVTA adopted its Fiscal Year 2024-2029 Six Year Program, dedicating $696.6 million to 23 multimodal transportation projects across the region.
NVTA also transferred $21.1 million previously dedicated to another NVTA-funded project in Arlington County to help pay for the Crystal City to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Multimodal Connection project, bringing the total number of funded projects in FY 2024-2029 to 24.

Arlington received an additional $11,600,000 for the Shirlington Bus Station Expansion, meaning the county received a total of $37.1 million from NVTA's latest round of funding.
Endorsed by the Arlington County Board in May 2023, the CC2DCA Multimodal Connection would link the east side of the entrance of the east side of the south entrance of the future VRE Crystal City Station to Reagan National Airport.

NVTA's newly adopted funding program is the seventh in the authority's history. The latest funding program is the seventh NVTA's history. Over the years, the NVTA has committed more than $3.8 billion to advance 140 projects across the region.
“NVTA invests in multimodal transportation projects that alleviate traffic congestion and expand travel options, all with the priority of enhancing the quality of life for Northern Virginia residents," said.
