2023 Arlington County Sheriff Election Results: Jose Quiroz Wins
Jose R. Quiroz Jr., who was the only candidate on the ballot, won election on Tuesday as sheriff of Arlington County.

ARLINGTON, VA — Jose R. Quiroz Jr., who was the only candidate on the ballot, won election on Tuesday as sheriff of Arlington County.
Quiroz, who succeeded Sheriff Beth Arthur when she retired in January, is a native of Arlington. He joined the Arlington County Sheriff’s office on Sept. 10, 2001.
In 2019, Quiroz was promoted to the rank of lieutenant, followed by captain. In 2022, he was promoted to chief deputy by Arthur in the sheriff's office.

In the Democratic primary in June, Quiros won with 40 percent of the vote, while retired sheriff's office official Wanda Younger won 33 percent and Arlington County Police Corporal James Herring received 29 percent of the vote in the three-way race.
