Arlington Teens Arrested For Drugs, Weapons In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, MD — Three Arlington, Va. teens who stopped their car to ask Ocean City bicycle officers a question about parking were instead busted for drugs and weapons found in the car, police said.

The teens had just entered Ocean City on Route 50 before they encountered police on Friday, June 29.

They stopped their car in the ocean block of North Division Street to ask officers on bicycle patrol a question about parking.

"The officers immediately recognized a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and noticed trace amounts of marijuana scattered throughout the vehicle," an Ocean City Police report said.

During a search of the car, police recovered: about a half pound of marijuana, prescription drugs, methamphetamine, brass knuckles, an assisted opening knife and several items of drug paraphernalia, a full face mask and a .25 caliber handgun, the statement said.

Police arrested the three teens, all from Arlington, identified as Emmanuelle N. Ruiz, 18; Gavin T. Kaiser, 16 and a 17-year-old male.

Kaiser has been charged as an adult with several counts of drug and weapons charges. He was seen by a Maryland District Court Commissioner and transferred to the Worcester County Jail and released on July 1 after posting $10,000 bond, police said.

Ruiz has been charged with possession of an assisted opening knife and possession of metal knuckles. He was released on personal recognizance.

The 17-year-old male was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
