AWLA Pet Calendar Competition Opens With Request For Photos, Votes

ARLINGTON, VA — The Animal Welfare League of Arlington is holding its 2024 calendar contest, with residents invited to submit a photo of their pet and the public encouraged to vote for their favorite photo.

The photo of the pet with the most votes will appear on the cover of the 2024 AWLA calendar. The next 12 pets with the highest number of votes will each receive a calendar month photo.

The submission and voting period began on Oct. 2 and will end at noon on Monday, Oct. 30.

“Each photo entry and vote equals life-saving funds for animals in need,” AWLA said. “From tiny kittens, to senior pups, injured wildlife, pet parents in need, and everything in between, your participation supports our mission to improve the lives of pets and people in Arlington County.”

The AWLA calendar contest is a fundraising effort, with a goal of raising $40,000 to support shelter operations.

Pet owners can upload their pet photos for a fee of $25 per photo entry. The public will then pay $1 per vote, with a five-vote minimum, as part of the fundraising effort.

The deadline to purchase an AWLA 2024 calendar is also Oct. 30. Calendars will be shipped to the address provided in the order form, with the cost of shipping included in the price.

Visit the AWLA’s website to create an account and then upload your pet’s photo, your pet’s name, whether the pet was adopted from AWLA and a short bio of your pet.

The public can also visit the website to vote on their favorite pet photos. As of Thursday morning, 23 pets had been entered into the AWLA calendar contest.
