'Community Of Readers': Arlington Public Library's Most Popular Books
Six titles in Arlington Public Library's collection were checked more than 3,000 times in 2023, with one title checked out over 5,000 times.

ARLINGTON, VA — Six titles in Arlington Public Library’s collection were checked more than 3,000 times in 2023, with one title getting checked out more than 5,000 times.
The library system’s most in-demand title in 2023, with more than 5,000 checkouts, was "Lessons in Chemistry" by Bonnie Garmus. The book was adapted to an Apple TV+ series that debuted in October and stars Brie Larson.
"I'm always impressed when I look at the list of most requested and checked out books by patrons," Arlington Public Library Division Chief Peter Petruski said. "It shows the continued diversity with our collection and proclaims Arlington is a community of readers."

These titles also surpassed 3,000 checkouts in the Arlington library system:
- Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
- Spare by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex
- Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
- Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
- Happy Place by Emily Henry
The Summer I Turned Pretty: A Summer Novel by Jenny Han was Arlington Public Library’s young adult readers' top title for the most checked-out book in 2023. Young readers also checked out Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man series in large numbers.

On its website, Arlington Public Library also has a curated list of great titles from 2023 that patrons may have missed. The books are sorted into subcategories: fiction, nonfiction, graphic, teen, elementary/middle grade, and picture books/early readers.
