Happy Father’s Day To Jack Lacey

"Jack Lacey was a great guy, and I miss him every day."

In celebration of Father's Day on Sunday June 17, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their father and let us deliver it. This is John Lacey's letter to his dad:

I grew up in Winnetka, and I still consider that to be my hometown, although I moved to Arlington, VA, at about age 30. Now I am 60, proud to be a dad to three great young adult "kids." My dad has been gone almost 10 years. Jack Lacey was a great guy, and I miss him every day. He lived to be 96 and spent his last years here near me in Arlington.

I miss him, and my mom, Jane Lacey, who made it to 91, every single day. They were Chicago South Siders, who moved to Winnetka in 1950, and from then until 1984 they lived in three Winnetka houses, moving as the size of the family ebbed and flowed. In 1984 they retired to Stuart, FL, where they lived for 20 years.
